More Horses! Mini Me's Favorite

The shopping trip to Calico Patch was great!!!  We even took in a second quilt shop in Flemingsburg KY.  My daughter (Mini Me) was the only one of our group (of 9) to win anything!!  Lucky her.  At Calico Patch she won a door prize.  A set of 4 Thimbleberry booklets with Christmas patterns.  :-)  She also bought a cool HORSE fabric that we are going to feature in a quilt.  She doesn't want me to cut it!  (I often have that issue myself.  I see something that I like and I don't want to cut it!  LOL)  So, I sat down with some graph paper and sketched out an idea.  I haven't done that since I first started quilting over 20 years ago!!  But I liked it and will have to do it again!!

Her fabric choice!  It is actually prettier in person.
I wasn't even sure if I liked it at first but I think it will make a great quilt.

This was fun to layout.
If I had some cool pencils I could have really made a neat drawing.
But without rulers, it would not be pretty!!  LOL
The idea centers around her fabric.  (My drawing does NOT do justice to her real piece!!)  The sketch shows an inner purple border.  It may not actually be purple but it will be an inner border of one fabric.  The middle row was originally in my head as triangles or star points.  For simplicity though, I decided on rectangular bars (which she liked better.)  I will use colors that compliment the inner feature fabric.  We bought a couple extra fat quarters that match.  I already have lots of fabrics that will work.  We've pulled out some already.  The corners will be a polka dot fabric I picked up.  The will be large 10 inch squares.  I will then again do an outside border.  Not necessarily blue as in picture.  I'm excited to work on this quilt.  I think it will be fun.  Also, other than cutting, I'm hoping to involve my daughter in the sewing part.  It will make it really hers.  Plus she can use the Goodwill sewing machine we found!! This is going to be a fun project!  I haven't had a big project for awhile so I'm excited!

Hope to hear what you are all working on.  Love sharing on here and your blogs too!!  --Quiltpecan
