Goodwill Fun

Quiltpecan and I love, love quilts!  I found this one a couple of years ago at Goodwill for $5.00.  Someone did a wonderful job on it!  I cannot imagine why anyone would give this beautiful work of art away!  I only hope the lovely lady that made it knows it came to a home that treasures this!  What do you think of my treasure?  Sydneykatt

Cindy Lou Who Schnibbles

As many of you know, last year I took a quilt class where we made wall hanging size quilts using "Schnibbles" patterns. This year we are doing more Schnibbles but in lap quilt sizes (or larger). Our second pattern was titled "Cindy Lou Who." I wanted to use the Moda fabric line, "Simply Color." I LOVED the color selection but didn't think ahead for this pattern. The pattern was relatively easy to piece but color selection is a must! Because of this, I modified my quilt. But come to think of it, I modify nearly every quilt I make! Lol. So, I guess it shouldn't surprise me. Anyway, I'm posting pics of my fabric choice and my quilt. You'll see my modifications when you see the other classmates' quilts. I cropped out my classmates' faces.... Mainly because I forgot to get their permission to post their faces. I missed a couple of the quilts. It was a crazy day. The last quilt had fabrics that were used in three of the classmates quilts. My favorite outcome, is Judy's, next to last photo. Love those fabrics in finished project.

My quilt is now in the loving hands of Sydneykatt. I think she will vouch for the fact the quilt is much prettier in person. I gave this top to her because she loved it. I hope she enjoys it. It is a very small token of my appreciation for her friendship. Ours was an unlikely friendship but a blessing in all ways. Luv u Sydneykatt. And to all our blogging friends, please tell those around you how much they mean to you! Your blogging buddy, Quiltpecan

Weather Station - Homemade!

Weather Station - (homemade)!

I guess I like to know what the temperature is right outside my house. I also enjoy knowing just how much rain I get too. So, I hung this large thermometer outside my window along with a rain gauge. Now a quick check through the window tells me. Quiltpecan has a fancy gadget, so she doesn't need this homemade one, wink, wink! Do any of you still look out like I do, or check your computer? Goodwill FUN

Bet you all didn't know Sydneykatt and I love glass! Lol. Wink, wink! Made my first solo trip out in a month since my surgery and thought I'd go to Goodwill. Almost passed up these pretties and remembered the sign when I came in that black tag items were 50% off. These stickers have a black stripe, so they qualify! :-). Got these three lovelies for $1.71!!! Thought I did great. Didn't even wash them up yet, wanted to share. These brightened up an otherwise gloomy, rainy day! --Quiltpecan

Goodwill Fun

I am so fortunate to have GREAT, Goodwills in my area : )  I found this neat "footed" crystal dish at my local Goodwill store for $2.50!  I am getting a nice collection of crystal : )  Only one problem, I am running out of space!  What I usually do, is look through my "collections" and find something I don't like as much as my new treasures!  I wonder if this crystal dish is an antique?  Would anyone venture a guess? Earth Day, April 22

Monday is the official Earth Day. But as I was looking for a picture for the blog, I saw several that said Earth Day should be every day. And they are right. I know many of us try to help reduce and reuse and recycle. At my house, we donate and also buy from the local Goodwill. When the kids are able, they exchange or hand down clothes. I'm glad that my daughter enjoys getting a bargain at Goodwill. We also do things at home like using cloth napkins and I also have reusable towels that I use in place of paper towels whenever possible. We recycle paper and plastic. My husband makes compost from kitchen scraps like egg shells and coffee grinds, combined with his outdoor gatherings. I'm sure we all do more than we think but as Earth Day draws closer, tally up what you do. And I'm going to ask myself, what else can I do? Hope you do the same. :-)Quiltpecan

Beautiful

The weather is warming up. Flowers blooming. Grass getting greener. Trees putting on their leaves. Here are just some of the many splendid things I get to see outside my home. Wish I could put captions on them all. But they are too pretty to spoil. Enjoy! --Quiltpecan
