These girls are my nieces and my daughter taken in the summer of 2010. The girls were crawling in and out of the trees that have all grown together here. Wish I had a picture of this tree in it's full form. As you can see from this picture, it is a LARGE tree. Several trees growing together on the bank of the OHIO River in the town we live. This is at the riverbank at our local Veteran's Memorial Park. It made a perfect backdrop for the girls pics. It's also a popular fishing spot in town.
Now.... the next picture was taken today. You can only see the TOP of this tree. The OH river is already above flood stage and will crest (we hope) between now and Monday. Right now, only the backwaters are getting into people's homes. The river itself may get in some homes before it crests. The river is amazing. SO powerful and sometimes frightening. Nevertheless, I can't imagine not living near the water. --Quiltpecan
