I recently got to take a trip to Orlando, Florida for a week. Even though it was a business trip, I did have some me time and found an AWESOME quilt shop called "The Sewing Studio - Fabric Superstore." Awesome in lots of ways. Their staff was so nice, very friendly and helpful. Their selection was phenomenal. Quilt fabric, novelty fabric, formal and bridal fabric, and so many more I won't even attempt to try and list them all. (Great Bargain Annex and 50% off rack too.) They had patterns of all kinds. Books. Lace. Trim. Thread. Buttons. Quilt Notions and supplies. Purse Making supplies. LOTS of cool sewing machines. I won't even try to list all their variety of stock!! I think they have anything you could need in that store. And to top it all off, it was less than 3 miles from my hotel room. How lucky was that for me!?!?!
I bought lots of fat quarters that week (I went to the store more than once of course!!) The week I was there they had a Buy 4 FQ get 1 Free sale!! I took advantage of that on my different shopping days. I will be including a few of these in the upcoming giveaway. (Check back for Giveaway details.) I also got fabric in their bargain areas. The by the yard cut and a remnant with small tear (which yielded a great remnant price) but I'm gonna cut it anyway :-) so I didn't mind at all.
I also bought 2 purse patterns. One was designed by a local designer. There were so many cute ideas by this designer. Her brand of sewing and craft patterns is "la todera." I bought an Asian Fan Purse Pattern but she had so many other neat things. I just love purses and knew it was something I could and would complete.
Another pattern I picked up was an Australian designer. This pattern line is "Melly & Me, Fun Fabulous Design." This pattern was called Raspberry Ripple. I loved their sample and asked for the pattern. It was out of stock but for a mere $1.50 I could prepay and they would mail it to me. And get this.... IT BEAT ME HOME. It was back in KY before me!!! :-)
If I lived in the Orlando area, I think I would have a home away from home. They gave me one of their newsletters to look at. They have so many classes!! Sewing, Machine Embroidery, Smocking, Clubs, Serger Classes, Bears, Quilting, Specialty classes.... I just loved it there! Please check them out if you are in Orlando. Don't pass it up!!! The store is simple on the outside but WOW on the inside. I will definitely check them out again if I am there.
They do have a website. It is in the process of updating (per a young clerk there who was an awesome gal who helped me alot) so check back often for their site. Another clerk told me they gladly ship if you need something they have. Their website is http://www.sewing.net/ and you can email them at sewing@sewing.net. If you are in the Orlando Maitland area, they are located at 9605 S Hwy 17-92, Maitland FL 32751. Phone 1-800-831-1492. They are open til 8:30 M-F and Saturday 9-5:30 and Sunday 12-5.
I hope you can check them out. I know I will whenever I go back!!! --Quiltpecan
