  4. I am currently a transplant Texan, as opposed to a Texas transplant. Which means, as the bumper sticker says, I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could. My BIL is now in CA which makes him a Texas transplant.
We have fabulous wildflowers all spring! LOVE IT!

  7. I would like to say a HUGE thank you to the families of the military not just the military. These families deal constantly with their loved ones leaving to go into hostile situations and constantly have to say goodbye like it is the last time. It takes a special breed of person. I pray for them all.

  10. Hmmm, what to post about Kentucky.

Our state bird is the Cardinal.
Our state flower is the Goldenrod.
Our state tree is the Tulip Poplar.
Our state butterfly is the Viceroy.
    Our state dance is clogging.

We also have the birthplace memorials for BOTH Civil War Presidents. Abe Lincoln in South Central Kentucky and Jefferson Davis in South Western Kentucky. (Interesting fact here. Both used to have log cabins, however, they were both in disrepair. So they used the good timber from both to recreate Abe Lincoln's.) Hmmm, We have a local Civil War Reenactment every year. It's called the Battle of Sacramento. My cousin plays our ancestor in the battle. He was an officer in the war.

  11. We bought a flag today to fly for memorial day. I have a cousin and a cousin-in-law and a brother-in-law that are or were in various branches of the military. Thanks guys! Also my husbands grandfather fought in WWII and did some amazing things to preserve freedom, so thanks to him too, though he is not with us here any longer.
God Bless our troops, wherever they may be.

  54. I'm fairly new to quilting, and thus far have only made quilts. I'm loving totes and bags, and would love to try one of them. I'm still suffering from confidence issues, but hopefully will get better at that before too long.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have a blog, too, but it's fairly new (only 21 followers). I don't have a personal computer, so use a work-issued laptop which doesn't allow me to download photos. And I don't post on a regular basis. So to me, it's a boring blog. I'm struggling with it, but I'll get there one day. But - in order to get a second entry for your giveaway, I'm providing my blog info. You sneaky thing! :-)

  56. From 1975-2008, I worked for the Army as a civilian at Ft Gordon, GA. Then in 2001, I accepted a position (still as a civilian with the Army) and went to work in Heidleberg, Germany. Talk about feeling patriotic and proud!! Landstuhl Regional Medical Center is where they send the wounded warriors before they can be transferred to hospitals in the States. Landstuhl was about 1-1/2 hours from Heidelberg. Working with the military and visiting Landstuhl truly, truly, truly gave me such a fierce sense of pride for our military. Many of the wounded I saw were young enough to be my children, and it broke my heart to see them in the hospital. But they were so proud to represent our country. And I'm so proud I met them. I was blessed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. My dream vacation would be to go back to my beloved Europe (see previous post). From the day I first landed in Germany, I felt like I "belonged". I miss Germany so much and would love to go back and visit. For a long visit.

  66. This winter we went to Hawaii and visited Pearl Harbor. While we were at the Arizona Memorial a navy ship passed by. As a tribute all the crew members line the decks and salute until their ship has passed. It was incredibly moving. My father and father-in-law served in World War II. I have a nephew who will be leaving for his 2nd tour of duty to Afghanistan shortly. I am grateful to all those who have served to keep this country free.

  87. I live in Florida! In all honesty, we are the 4th worst state for job hunting. We have no state income tax, so we are actually dumb enough to try to run a state without making a provision for income! Thus we also have a mediocre school system -- yes I am horrified.
